about

Following its release in 2012 Doc and Q wanted to take the songs on the road and assembled initially a 7-piece band including additional percussionist Stevie Evans who left after only a handful of gigs.
The core line up then formed and settled and over the course of about 5 years played many gigs in and around Bristol including some of its core venues The Fleece, Thunderbolt and Mr Wolf’s as well as across the bridge at the Dragonffli in Pontypool three times including at their Fflifest on the main night.
They went further afield one several occasions including a mini-tour and played in many parts of England and Wales including London (Surya, Hope and Anchor, and bizarrely Jazz After Dark café where Amy Winehouse played in her early days), Cardiff, Cinderford, Leeds, Manchester, Stroud, Warrington and most enjoyable of all outside Bristol / Pontypool undoubtedly Jacaranda in Liverpool.
The songs evolved with the different arrangements required for a live band until it became almost a new album. Q and Doc decided to capture that and spent 2 days at 13 Sound Studios in Weston-Super-Mare engineered by Charlie Lintern. The album was mixed and produced by Dave Grier and Kev Lloyd (Q had worked with the latter on his solo No Prima Donnas album Chaos and Dysfunction) and mastered at Loud Mastering who had also mastered original album ‘The Future of Mass Hysteria).
The band played their last gig at Mr Wolf’s in July 2018 after which they were retired so that Q and Doc could focus on finishing writing, recording and mixing for the second studio album. Material from that will finally see the light of day from June 2020. It was a lot of fun so our thanks and love to

about

The Real King(s) of Spain Bristol, UK

Bristol based art-rock duo Doc Satori and QJB released their first album The Future of Mass Hysteria in 2013. Torn Lips and Guilty Souls is the live version, using musicians in place of electronica which gives it a looser, more accessible vibe. Well received at recent gigs all over the UK, they will resume playing live shows in 2016. ... more
